A finished Skirt!

Hi!

Half term is here! Two whole weeks just to chill and spend time with the family! As soon as I got home I couldn't wait to make up the skirt so yesterday afternoon was spent with the sewing machine!

It was so easy to make up. Just a rectangle with a tube at the top for the elastic and then hemmed! My Mum is insane at sewing so didn't need a pattern, she just gave me instructions and I got on with it!

I love how it turned out. Its so simple but is nice to wear with thick grey tights and boots! I have already planned the next skirt with possibly buttons down the front! ahhh excitement! Lol!

I have another picture but blogger is not working with me today! grrr...! Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are all having a nice weekend!

Lovely! And you must be so proud when people compliment you on it because you know you made it yourself!

Great skirt, Abi! The fabric is pretty - is that your Laura Ashley vintage stuff? I loved learning to make my own clothes. I had a great book given to me, which explains how to make your own patterns - so you can make skirts with shaped panels and waistbands etc.
The next stage for your rectangle/tube skirt, is to make a waistband, then gather the fabric onto that and stitch it down. It looks a bit smarter and more structured, but is still so easy to make. You can decorate the waistband too. You can either have a zip, or buttons to fasten the skirt - you just leave part of the side seam unstitched and then sew on buttons and ribbon loops to fasten it (or buttons and pop-studs) - easy-peasy! And then you can add a ruffle (or two, or three) to the bottom, to make it into a fancy-going-out skirt... All that without the aid of a safety net (or should that be a safety pin?), or a pattern either!
Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Happy half term! xx

The skirt looks fab, and sounds very easy - I wish my The Girl would wear a skirt, I'd make one for her! Maybe I'll be brave enough to try one for myself....?
