Stepping back in time.

Near my Grandma's house there is an old steam railway. The trains still run on it, their shrill whistles echoing over to where she lives. Since I was little I have visited it. It is like stepping back in time to a scene from the railway children.

All pictures taken with a Nikon D40 and a 50mm lens. F.stop 1.9. Edited in Picnik.

Thanks for stopping by

What beautiful photos Abi, you've really captured the atmosphere of bygone days. How lovely that places like that still exist.

Lovely station! And the photos are really nice- they do capture the place and the atmosphere very well.
We like the Poppy Line, between Sheringham and Holt, in North Norfolk. We've been holidaying near there for a long time and really like to go to Holt, then catch a wonderful steam-train all the way to Sheringham, spend a day by the sea, then travel back on another train home!
Steam engines may have been a bit smelly & dirty, but I still prefer them to the modern trains. I should have been an Edwardian!

Gorgeous photography today! I especially love the stack of suitcases and the signs.

loved the Railway children tv series and film. wish i'd seen the theatre production too. we have cranmore station nearby and we used to go on the watercress line and also ardingly when we were children. my dad was a steam fiend, and my earliest memories of childhood were him carrying me to the bottom of the garden to wave to the trains as a young baby. i don't think it was steam in 1966 so no naughty remarks, heehee.
